The Lord sure has been good to the Rasbeary family and the Lighthouse Baptist Church family this year. Sometimes, we go through times of purging, but, according to the Lord Jesus, such purging is necessary for bringing forth much fruit:
John 15:1-2 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. (2) Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
Purging is never fun but in the end it always leaves the church and the Christian stronger, healthier, and more productive.
As the Spring season gets ready to turn to summertime activities, I am excited about what the Lord is doing at Lighthouse Baptist Church. We just finished a Sunday School campaign in which we saw a good increase in our average attendance and many saved. Two months ago, we started our first choir and orchestra and changed our Sunday morning service format. Before, the children’s church ran separately; now, the children join the adults in the auditorium for the beginning of the song service. This small change and the addition of the choir has really added a lot of enthusiasm to the service. I am so very appreciative of the faithful service of Bro. Camp, our song leader, who has taken the choir leadership responsibility with his usual enthusiasm, organization and attention to detail.
Our bus ministry is running strong and continually bringing new boys and girls to Sunday School. Many of them are being saved. The Lord recently answered our prayers for a shuttle bus by touching the heart of a doctor in Austin, who donated a nice 15-passenger one to our church totally free of church. We can’t wait to get this bus on the road bringing people to church.
Our church ministries are strong, vibrant, and led by faithful men and women. We have seen a number of families visit and continue to visit, and soon we trust that they will join the LBC family. Our soulwinning has seen an increase in attendance and involvement. We also began a “Welcome Wagon” soulwinning ministry to new move ins to the area. This has met with good success. This last week, our church made over 1100 personal visits to homes in the area during our Week of Sowing and Soulwinning. Many were led to Christ during this time and many visitors were in church because of it.
Our church recently hosted the first Preacher’s Family Camp, which was attended by 47 people. We had a wonderful time and are looking forward to making this an annual event.
Easter Sunday was a great blessing. We had our second highest attendance ever, just missing our all-time record by 6. We saw 5 people saved that morning and 1 baptized, with many visitors in attendance. One man who was saved posted the following heart-warming testimony on Facebook immediately after the service:
It is amazing to see the Lord working in people’s lives.
As Spring moves towards summer, we are excited about the work left to do. Next will come Senior Camp, Junior Camp and VBS, followed by the regional Ladies’ Spectacular in September. Oh, and my daughter graduates from High School in June. Yikes!
In short, I am thankful to the Lord for sending “showers of blessings” to our church. I am thankful for a wonderful, loving, caring church family who loves God, loves each other, loves their pastor, and is involved in a “work of faith and labor of love.” I love the people of Lighthouse Baptist Church and count it a privilege to serve as their pastor.
Thank you for reading. God bless.
