VBS Flashback!

We are getting ready for our fourth VBS here at Lighthouse Baptist Church! It is scheduled for the end of summer, August 6-9, 6:30-8:30 pm each night. In preparing for VBS, I have enjoyed looking back over some of the highlights from our first three summer adventures. Here is a slideshow of pictures followed by a synopsis of each year’s VBS:

In 2009, our theme was “Wanted: A Child After God’s Own Heart.” We converted our gym into the Circle D Ranch and enjoyed a cowboy theme. Along with our Bible lessons, we enjoyed skits featuring Sky Pilot Jim, Pronto, the Big! Bad! Man!, Mr. Red the talking stick horse, and Wildcat Lou. The lessons covered the youth of David. It was a great week!

In 2010, our theme was “In The Service Of The King.” We converted the gym into a (nearly) full-sized castle. That year we were lead by Sir Preachalot and the Knights of the Kitchen Table, featuring Bubba the Redneck Knight, as they battled fire-breathing dragons and the forces of the Dark Knight. The lessons covered the kings of Israel and Judah.

In 2011, the theme was “Escape from Egypt!” Led by our tour guide, Israeli Jones, we watched as Moses delivered the Israelites from Pharaoh’s bondage. The kids also enjoyed the “Jannes and Jambres ‘Magic’ Show” (don’t worry, there wasn’t any magic) and even went through the Red Sea on dry ground. Pharaoh, fortunately, didn’t make it through.

We’ve seen wonderful attendance and many children and young people make wonderful decisions for Jesus Christ. This year we are picking up where we stopped last year. The Theme is “Bound For The Promised Land!” Make plans now to attend!
