Moses, at eighty years of age, was not looking for a career change when God called him from the burning bush in the desert of Midian. In fact, Moses tried to politely decline. Then, he made excuses. Finally, he surrendered to God’s will for his life and, with Aaron, went to Egypt, armed with two miraculous signs as evidence of his divine authority. At first, the people rejoiced that God had sent them a deliverer – but when Moses went in to see Pharaoh, he ran into an Uncooperative King and Unforseen Circumstances.
Sometimes, things get worse before they get better. In fact, sometimes things get much worse before they get better. This message, from Exodus 5, is an encouragement to live by faith. The Pharaoh of this world is not going to cooperate with God’s people or God’s men on anything. And when circumstances get worse, we have to learn to trust God and keep on doing what God told us to do.
