Continuing in 1 Peter – “We Are A Pilgrim People.”

“Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; {12} Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.” 1 Peter 2:11-12

Our fathers sang, “This world is not my home, I’m just a passin’ through; my treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue.” Yet how often we as Christians forget our status as sojourners on the pilgrim pathway. This message, drawn from our continued Wednesday night study of 1 Peter and illustrated in the life of Abraham, describes our three-fold responsibility: We are Sojourners in a Strange Land; We are Soldiers in Enemy Territory; and We are Ambassadors for the King in this Land.
