Heaviness And Manifold Temptations: The Trial of Faith

In the picture to the left, the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71), my father’s last deployment before retiring from the Navy, is undergoing Shock Trials. The newly built ship was taken out into Chesapeake Bay where massive charges were set off all around her. The explosion  seen was not the work of enemies or terrorists, but the ship’s builders and designers – and the purpose was not to destroy the ship, but to test the ship for sea-worthiness.

The people of God are a people of faith – and a faith that cannot face up to and overcome the hardships and difficult times of this life is not a faith worth having. In the life of faith will come times of trial. Our faith will be put to the test through times of heaviness and manifold temptations. These are a NORMAL part of the Christian life. Our loving Heavenly Father has a purpose and a plan for every aspect of the trial. Our faith can come through TRIUMPHANTLY.   This message was preached Wednesday night, November 16, 2011, at the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Wylie, Texas.     Download MP3.         Listen now.
