Congratulations to Pastor Smith!

Sunday night, my pastor, Dr. Bob Smith, retired as the pastor of the Trinity Baptist Church in Arlington after serving for 24 years. During that time, tens of thousands of souls have been saved and thousands have been baptized. Many have been called into the ministry and are serving God in places all around the world. Only heaven knows the true impact of this man’s ministry. However, in the evening service he preached with his own characteristically self-depreciating way, giving all the glory to the God of his salvation.

My wife and I were members of TBC from 1995-2000, but we have been influenced by Bro. Smith’s ministry for the last 18 years. No one but my own parents has had a greater impact on who I am and what I want to be as one of God’s preachers. It was a privilege to sit at the feet of this man of God one more time – the last time that he will stand in the pulpit as pastor. I thank God for a man of God who never changed his position – who stood for soulwinning, the Bible, right doctrine, the Baptist name, and total surrender to the will of God.

Thank God for such a leader to follow!

It has been my pleasure and a true blessing to know Dr. Smith and his lovely wife. We have enjoyed being in their company and I LOVE Bro. Smiths fantastic sense of humor….I know Trinity will miss them but they have some wonderful plans in store for themselves…I wish them the best of luck…

It was a pleasure to meet Bro Smith…

I’m sorry to hear that he has been “abandoned” and “attacked” by some; presumably, this is not over doctrine… over, perhaps, his decision to retire or the methods by which decisions were made?
