David Livingstone was attacked by an African lion which left him with a crushed shoulder joint and eleven puncture wounds in his arm and shoulder. He said that the wounds would ache again periodically for the rest of his life.
One of his associates was also bitten by the lion. Livingstone reported the curious fact that a year later to the month, the bite marks in his associate’s shoulder had reappeared as though they had never healed. Dr. Livingstone was amazed at the annual event, in which the previously healed wound would suddenly break forth and fester again, although he believed that the lion’s teeth must have carried some sort of bacteria that caused the strange occurrence.
Sometimes old wounds ache. Sometimes they can suddenly break forth all over again, as though they had never healed. This message deals with forgiveness AND reforgiveness. It deals with old wounds which we thought we had the victory over, but which have reasserted themselves into our lives. Bitterness is destroying the people of God. This message discusses how to get the victory – again and again and again, when old wounds ache and fester.
