In the mid-1800′s, a number of British ships were lost at sea due to overloading. Because of this, Samuel Plimsoll, a member of the British Parliament, fought for legislation that would change the shipping industry. Since that time, ships all over the world have been marked with a “Plimsoll Line” that tells exactly how much a ship can safely bear in different types of waters and conditions.
The Christian also has a Plimsoll Line on his life – invisible to himself, but very visible to the omniscient eyes of his Heavenly Father. 1 Corinthians 10:13 tells us that God will never allow a burden one ounce heavier than we can bear.
This 30 page eBooklet (in PDF format) describes an incident early in Moses’ ministry in which he complained that his burden was greater than he could bear, and the lessons we can learn from it.
